Jim Gaskill carries several professional certifications that make him eligible to teach and be an administrator in the state of Ohio. These educational advancements give him a strong background and foundation to lean on when running an entire school.
He attended the University of Akron after graduating from high school. In 1991, he received his bachelor of arts in education. This gave him his certificate and allowed him to start teaching. He began teaching in 1992 and went back to school to get his master's of art in education administration while he was teaching science and math in the public schools.
In 1996, he went back to school at the University of Akron to complete his high school principal's certification. This opened the door to let him become a school administrator anywhere in the state. He became an assistant principal while he was earning his certificate, and then the district offered him the job as school principal.
In 2014, he went back to the University of Akron one more time, earning his superintendent license. He is also currently carrying credentials for the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES), the Ohio Principal Evaluation System (OPES) and the Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES).
