A few knocks came upon Rosies door and the most melodic of voices followed.
"Ti's most rude of ye' no tae open the door fer a wounded man lass"
The man had seen her and had the audacity to tease her about her manners after coming upon her land unannounced but more importantly he seemed to know she was alone in the cottage. Rosie was furious, how dare he correct her in her manners.
" Aye, unfortunately for you we lowlanders don't make it a habit to open the doors for strangers that look like they can crush your skull between their hands"
The strangers booming laughter could be heard miles away she was sure of it and it only furthered her anger that he made it quite clear he was enjoying himself in what she considered to be a serious and dangerous situation.
"Come lass open the door I give ye mee word I won't lay a hand on ye" he said amusement clear in his voice and then he added " unless ye want me tae lassie, do ye want me tae?".
" It would be a cold day in hell when I let your hands come anywhere near me highlander, now go away!"
" However much this conversation has delighted mee bonny lass, mee wounds are gettin worse and if ye donna open this door yer going tae have tae stand aside cos I'm going to break it down"
What Rosie doesn't seem to know however is that the door isn't the only thing coming crashing into her life.

Ellie: When your boyfriend cheats on you with your mother, you don't just pack up-you flee. For me, it was straight from Oklahoma to Killin, Scotland, where my sweet, scheming Nan runs a cozy bed and breakfast. Peace, quiet, maybe too much shortbread-that was the plan. Enter Tàrrin Fraser: six-foot-something of brooding, infuriatingly gorgeous, inked-up Scot with a penchant for eye rolls and snide comments. He's been running the B&B with Nan since he was fifteen, and hes fully convinced I'm just here to ruin his life. So, we make a deal: six months to prove who's better at running this place. Winner keeps it. Loser leaves. Simple, right? Until every argument feels like foreplay, every accidental touch makes my pulse race, and one night... the line between love and hate got very, very blurry. Now, I can't stop thinking about him-and I might just be falling for the enemy. Tàrrin: When Effie said her American granddaughter was comin' tae help, I braced for a spoiled Yank. Instead, I got Ellie-sharp-tongued, mean as hell, fiery-eyed, and infuriatingly irresistible. This lass really thinks she can outdo me? Aye, right. We strike a deal: six months to see who runs this B&B better. Loser leaves. I planned to charm her into quittin', make her fall for me, send her running, then take the keys and be done. Easy, aye? Wrong. One night, things got... heated. Really heated. Now I'm the one who cannae think straight, and it's not about the bloody B&B anymore. It's about keepin' her close, makin' her mine-and prayin' she never finds out this started as a game. Because I'm fallin'-hard-and if she catches on, I'm more fecked than a whisky barrel on Hogmanay.

Austin unclenched his jaw and spoke, "You're going to run from me." I was puzzled. What did he mean? He sensed my confusion. "As soon as we step foot onto human grounds," He spat out, jaw set, teeth clenched. He looked like a vampire at this exact moment. Angry, vicious, destructive. "You're going to want your life back. And leave me. Because you can't deal with a vampire. Because you're scared. Because you hate us." He averted his gaze from my shocked eyes and he spoke with ice in his tone. "And I can't let that happen." - "Listen human," Dmitri said to me, and he was in front of me in a millisecond, hands gripping my shoulders, pinning my body against the balcony railing. His face was inches from mine. "This is not your place. I'd watch your mouth if I was you." I shoved him but he didn't budge. "You can't hurt me," I whispered. "You're a HUMAN!" He yelled in my face gritting his teeth. "How'd you even make it here?" I tried to take my hand away but he didn't allow me. "What do you want from me, Dmitri?" I asked. I was shocked at how confident yet quiet voice sounded. "What do I want?" He bellowed. "You're a human, vermin. This is the vampire world. I don't expect you have any need in this world. I WANT you to get out, stay away from this place, the castles, the people. Austin. Stay away from him." He stared me right in the eyes when he said the sentence that prepared me want to leave immediately. "I'll have to kill you if you don't leave - and yes, that's a threat."
