This is a short story that goes along with the song The Emerald Falcon, by Richard Meyer. 

A young girl discovers she is the Emerald Falcon. Beautiful wings are attached to her back, with a gem in between, enabling her to fly. Alone in the woods, she must escape the evil trying to get her gem.
