I never really fit in anywhere because of my unnatural red fire like hair and bright green eyes in fact, I was in the middle of the war i was one of the kidnapped kids but was beaten and abused because they needed a punching bag that no one cared enough...that was until one of the soldiers saved me he adopted me even named since no one wanted to name a monster nor be near one he named me Ruby his name was Nate when he took me home he had a fiance that was pregnant after she had the baby they named him shaun they finally had a wedding, everything was going fine until one year later and the bombs hit....Now i must survive and find Shaun but after exiting the vault, something changed....for the good or for the worst?

A Different Virus - Laura's Story
This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? (Language Warning, there will be swears!) "I... saw horrible things down there... Things, nobody ever should see. It was awful, f*****g awful! Everything was red... crimson almost if the colors haven't been there for to long... The walls, the floor even the f*****g ceiling! I saw them hanging there... hanging on the walls, laying on the ground, taped to the ceiling... it was there, I letted out that terrified scream... I couldn't stop myself... it was just to horrible... None of them had their eyes... I was literally staring into there skulls! They had clothing on, there had been teared apart... I still don't know who they all are... Them on the walls... they was handing in their own f*****g INTESTINE... it-it had been warped around their stomach, there was literally splitted in 2, and had been tightly around their throat. I seriously hope they was f*****g dead before it happened! There was blood everywhere... I tried my best to not step on the old blood, but it's impossible. It's literally everywhere... My own hand found my neck, where fresh blood was still slowly rolling down to color my clothing... I wanted to turn around, to run up the stair's again, to be out in the free! But I couldn't... I was trapped, by the same person, there is dead now... I was trapped, like a mouse cornered by a hungry cat... an awful, terrifying cat...,". The scientists of Vault 115 know nothing of the horrors laying outside, waiting patiently for them to open their doors. Though they imagine, they hypothesize, they plan for the absolute worst. Creating super suits to protect them, whether from radiation or physical damage, they still feel as if they are not protected well enough. Centuries, generations, flitter by. Myths and hypothesis turn into facts and waiting for the inevitable. Frightened, scientists continue their studies, passing their knowledge from one generation to another, in hopes that perhaps they will find a way to protect themselves when the time comes to finally open the vault doors. There had been a counter in the main living area of the Vault, but as it counted down the time until the oxygen would run out, people kept getting worked up or scared. In response, the Overseer had it moved to the actual Vault exit, where only the Overseer had permission to go. As children growing up, we were always destined to be a scientist, to continue the research of our fathers and forefathers. We never questioned this, it was just the way things were. However, one day, two children were picked from class and taken away. They had never been seen again. All the other children in the class were confused, some frightened, some angry they had not been chosen. But no matter the emotions, it remained a mystery. A month passed, and two more children had been picked to leave the class, and they hadn't returned either. The children started to feel restless, and the parents of the missing children never said a word, only went to work and back to their rooms, never smiling. This month, the children flitter about the classroom nervously. This would be the day that they would take two more children, if they did it again. And, expectedly, the Overseer had appeared in the classroom. She calmed the children, then read two names off of her clipboard. And she read my name.Complete
