Fourteen year old Jenissa Hemerton lives in her utopia, the Water Lands, at a time in the future where the world is split into water, ice, earth, wind and fire. 
No one from other lands are allowed to meet, talk or get married. But there's always an exception.
Jenissa looks exactly like everyone else in the Water Lands, apart from one difference: her eyes. They're not the usual aqua blue, but instead they're brown, like her father who travelled to the Water Lands years ago. 
When Jenissa begins to notice differences in her daily life she becomes suspicious, and her fear that people from the Fire Lands are coming to find her become stronger.
Jenissa is soon taken on a journey and discovers things she didn't know about the Fire Lands.
