It's been 100 years since the war started and the avatar went missing Luna the older sister of Katara and Sokka's twin sister was taken by the fire nation for being a water bender her mother died trying to protect Katara and she was willing to do the same. She was not expecting the treatment that she got at the royal palace and the prince that awaited her.
