King David wrote psalms and sang them to the Lord to worship Him because he had the keys to add music as a commandment of the first covenant. Now that we're in the second covenant music is no longer a tool for praise and worship but instead we worship God with the knowledge of Jesus Christ we receive from His stewardship. Even our psalms are now in reflection of the foundation of truth laid in the heart by apostles. 1 Corinthians 14:26, "How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying."
