In many fanfictions, reader insert or otherwise, OC's or reader characters are always adept at nearly everything. But haven't you ever wondered would would really happen if you, or any other ordinary human dropped in to Middle Earth? I know it's fun to pretend to be the hero, to be impressively gifted, because how else could you win the heart of Prince Charming? Well, what if just you could be enough. This is a story with a message very alike the message of the original Hobbit book, and even The Lord of the Rings. This is a story about how an ordinary person can be extraordinary.
(Occasional profanity and some violence.)
I occasionally go back into previous chapters and edit things to fit the future plot, so if something isn't adding up I probably changed it in an earlier chapter.

Modern AU Crack/Humor/Fluff - Bilba and Thorin get into a fight and, as they are both prideful and stubborn, neither one can quite bring themselves to simply admit to their part and apologize. Bilba finally has enough of the stalemate and decides the most brilliant and epic solution ever would be to kidnap Thorin and lock him in the basement until he gives in, admits it was all his fault and begs for her forgiveness . It's possible she might have been a WEE bit drunk when she came up with, and executed, this plan. Of course now that she's done it she can't back down. That would be like admitting Thorin was right...somehow. She's not quite as firm on that point but what IS clear is Thorin looks far to smug for a kidnap victim which means she is certainly not admitting her plan was not the most epic and well thought out plan in the history of epic and well thought out plans. Even when she realizes Frerin might have been a witness meaning she has to kidnap him too...and Dwalin shows up acting all suspicious so of COURSE she has to kidnap him........ There just MAY have been one...or two TINY flaws in her plan after all but that doesn't mean it wasn't still epic! Thorin will rue the day he crossed her!Complete

Along with this comes soul bound mates-that are a natural thing for skin changers, likewise for the dwarves it is finding their one. How will Thorin behave when he discovers his one in the powerful skin changer? He says he'll wait till the quest is over but can he make it that long? The years between fire and darkness
This is set post-Smaug and before the dwarves resettle in the Blue Mountains. It describe the years in the life of Thorin Oakenshield between those two events. It is a story of love, lust and adversity. It is also my very first fanfiction with plot. It took me months to write it, so please; be gentle! First of all, I would like the thank my beta-reader and mentor Lady Anne, for all her help and support. Specials thanks to Lady Oakenshield who was kind enough to do a second read for mistakes and typos. Hopefully, they are all gone now! Please note, that I am NOT a Tolkien expert. But when Gandalf the Grey sends for him Nataen will be dragged into an unexpected adventure. The story of their journey will spread across Middle Earth and lift the shadows that surround him a little bit.
