The search for the artifacts continues in the sequel to "Whispers of Nowhere". Gwen, still in mourning after the battle against Iris and Reeves' combined forces, must push forward and do what is expected of her. Between honing the skills the artifacts have bestowed upon her, and learning more about the Spectrum and those in it, there is little time for grieving: For on the next new moon, the forces of darkness she and her allies so desperately fought against have something sinister planned.

What, no one seems to know. Only that, whatever it is, the Spectrum itself is the target. With Apophis assuming control, revealing himself as the mastermind behind everything that has occurred since Gwen's adventure began, there is little room for error. If they don't stop Apophis and his forces from claiming the artifacts for themselves, all will be lost, and the casualties they suffered will have been for nothing.

With the support of both Forneus and the Regulations Force Fifth Unit, Gwen finds a burning resolve deep down within herself, and with it, the desire to never let another life be lost on her behalf again. But, he also finds out the truth and how their manipulating people and treating them like cattle. Murai then chooses to join Zero on her crusade to kill the Intoners and save the world. Will Murai save the world and find out the truth of Zero? Or will he be her downfall? (I don't know anything related to Drakengard 3, all rights go to Square Enix and respected owners.)

Though she jumps through the hoops, she doesn't want to follow the precepts at all, to guard the portals but never open them. Obsidian's appointed mentor, Damian, is a straight-laced young Guardian, who can't contain the young dedicant. He's always believed the laws are in place to protect all of Nect, but Obsidian starts to make him question his own principles. She doesn't allow him any time to examine the possibilities, though, and he has to decide between reporting her or standing by her side to protect her from whatever horrors she stirs up. She's been struggling with a hole in her life, the loss of someone she cared about, someone who's been gone for far too long. Desperate for answers and willing to do anything, Maya ends up making a deal. It's one of those things you hear about in hushed tones, something that sounds almost too unreal to be true, but she doesn't care. All she wants is for them to come back, and the cost? Well, she figures she'll deal with that later. But just as she's about to seal the deal, Leo shows up, like some kind of reluctant hero. He tries to save her, to break the bargain before it's too late, but his intervention backfires. The deal takes its toll on her in a way she never expected, half of her soul gets torn away, scattered across town. To make things worse, part of the demon that tricked her takes root inside her, filling the void and granting her powers. But it's not all gifts. With those powers comes the threat of losing who she is, of being consumed by the very thing she tried to control. Maya is left with a terrifying choice: use the powers to reclaim her soul or risk losing herself completely.
