The Power of a Few

500 years ago. That's when the first few Guardians appeared. Individuals blessed by God Almighty himself. Blessed with extraordinary, supernatural powers. They were said to be God's angels, come down to earth. But we now know better. They were just ordinary humans. Ordinary humans blessed with supernatural gifts from a supernatural Creator. And they protected us. Well... those that didn't turn to the Order. The Order were those who served the Evil One. Granted with dark magic, they wreaked havoc on the islands. Many believed this was the very reason why the Guardians arrived when they did. They were sent to protect mankind from the Evil One and his Order. They were sent to spread hope. They were sent to guide mankind to God. 500 years ago... that's also when the Battle happened. A catastrophic clash between the Guardians and the Order which nearly destroyed the Northern Isles, leaving them to be uninhabitable and desolate. Evil came the closest to winning that day than ever before. But the Order was destroyed and the Guardians returned to their villages. Ever since the people of the islands have known only peace and prosperity. Making allies of the tribes on the mainland, all enmity ended 500 years ago. In the past half millennium the first generation of Guardians passed away, like normal humans, and a new one was born to fill its place. Each generation bringing forth a new group of protectors and guides. Then, they disappeared. All of them. All but two.
