Throughout their journey as stowaways on a cargo train, Hunter begins to see Jim as a person with good intentions and a rocky road that made him into the way he is. Despite Mormon beliefs that homosexuals are sinful and destructive creatures from hell-sodomites. As the days progress more is known about how Jim perceives life and religion, where as Hunter just sits back and listens with some input while reflecting on how corrupted his own life is. He comes to the realization that no person is perfect, and love doesn't just manifest through a man and a woman, because soon Hunter starts to develop feelings for Jim.
