In the heart of the blazing south, Amelia White as grown up on the big stage, winning the local beauty pageants, hosting magnificent parties, hunting down her father's competitors and removing them from the picture.
Living a double life in order to secure her mother's safety, Amelia never chooses to defy her fathers every order. Until one day, when her father decides to begin his campaign for mayor of their small town, he brings calls in a favor, a friend from Baltimore, who brings his two sons.

And Charles, the half brother of Leo, a crime scene detective back in Baltimore who's real reason for coming to town was for a case. Finding out the truth about Amelia White was never his mission, but after he does he can't find it in himself to leave things the way they are.
Amelia finds herself engaged to marry a man she's never met and can't stand, if she pulls away from the marriage her mother is in danger, and if she stays in the marriage, she betrays a fondness growing her heart, one for the wrong brother.
