To reach his objective, Monarc destroys experimental results, aspirates thoughts of the ruling class with his topcortex, kills a famous astronaut and destroys his heart given to replace Telio's. Monarc wants to impose on Dax an artificial heart for Telio. By controlling the cardiac implant of Telio, Monarc will dominate Dax. Dax changes the rules of the game and will pay the ultimate sacrifice even if she unveils her secret. Society has finally found a way to determine from birth which children will grow up to be depressed and possibly suicidal. They've deemed these children 'terminals', separating them from the 'pures'. This dystopian novel warns against the tragic stories that will come if we continue to dismiss the depressed as inhuman instead of working towards understanding and helping others that need it. No one is too far gone. Everyone can be happy when given the right chance. This story has no smut, but PS: the ending is worth it 😏
