Birds are some of the most diverse creatures to ever live. They are very intelligent, too, some even using tools and speaking small snippets of human words. Some can see a greater range of colors than we can, and outsmart us in some facets of object-permanence. In The Aviary, though, some birds have more powers than just that. There are fire pheasants, birds with bright plumage that can shoot fire from their beaks. There are speaking grey cockatoos, able to quickly and efficiently learn languages. There are fanged vultures, people-sized creatures that can crush bones in their jaws. But most mysteriously there are the witching birds, unlike anything anyone has ever hoped to see...

Eleven-year-old Agatha Hill has always felt out of place-haunted by a past she barely remembers and a mother she's never truly known. When a single, raven-black bird appears at her windowsill one misty morning, Agatha's quiet life with the enigmatic Ms. Henry unravels in the most extraordinary way. As secrets surface-locked doors in the cellar, whispers of ancient "watchers," and a bone-carved key meant for the sky itself-Agatha finds herself drawn into a hidden world woven of feathers, memory, and magic. Alongside a reluctant friend who believes in her unconditionally, she must confront the Hollow Feather-a dark, shapeshifting god born of sorrow and broken promises. To rescue the ones she loves and save herself, Agatha will have to learn what it truly means to become more than human... and whether she can survive the cost of remembering. If you loved the haunting wonder of Coraline, the eerie beauty of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, or the fierce heart of His Dark Materials, then step into The Peculiar: Where the Feathers Fall and discover a world of bittersweet loss, fierce loyalty, and the promise of rebirth-where sometimes the only way to heal is to let your wings burn. Open your eyes. The watchers have been waiting.
