Bucky has left Grace Pierce behind. Grace is broken, doesn't have a job and doesn't go outside anymore. It feels like her heart is punched out of her chest.
Kathie Stevens, her best friend, tries to help her out of the darkness, which is harder than she thought. Grace meets someone new: Tomas Stone.
But Grace can never let go of Bucky. Two years pass. Then suddenly she gets the change to work for the government in Berlin.
She takes the job, hoping to start over. Alas, Grace's heart never healed.
When she meets Bucky once again, her world is completely upside down. It makes everything more difficult for Grace because he is surprisingly gentle. Steve Rogers made up a team as Bucky is being blamed for a terroristic attack. Grace is being torn by two life changing decisions: go with Bucky, even though he hurt her, or stay and live her life with her new friend Tomas.
The Civil War has started. Grace needs to pick a side and decide where her heart really lies.

THIS BOOK IS PART OF A SERIES. THIS IS THE THIRD BOOK IN ZOLA's STORY. Make sure to read "In Their Hands", followed by "Control" before reading this story!! Zola returns with her mom after a fight regarding the mischief behind both HYDRA & SHIELD. When they think the conflict has settled, another arises. The Avengers split between the choice of working under supervision, vs. working without it. Her mother takes one side, and her father chooses the other. Now, Zola's old enough to make her own decisions, even though her choice still causes conflict with her parents. She can choose to stay alongside her mother, or, she can choose to fight beside her birth father, Bucky Barnes, AND the only father she has ever known, Clint Barton. Still, Zola is not aware of her relation to Bucky. But she is starting to sense that there's something her parents are hiding. She is slowly putting the pieces together and understanding who Bucky is. Through conflict, confusion, and difficulty, Zola tries to maintain relationships that have lasted throughout her life. She watches the love that she has grown up with begin to crumble and decay. She tries to revive these things that are most important to her. However, as she grows older in this country that seems so foreign, she better understands the emphasis of "Nothing Gold Can Stay." And when she keeps a promise she has made, and goes with her mother to destroy their demons of the red room, she finds out about a deeper meaning of family that has never had. TAKES PLACE DURING "CACW" AND "BLACK WIDOW".
