Celempung is a musical instrument made of bamboo, played by being hit with a bat, and acts like a drum as a rhythm regulator. The presentation of celempung musical instruments is called Celempungan. The show is equipped with musical instruments (waditra) Harp, fiddle, flute and a goong pitcher. Celempung is a sound instrument emulated from Icikibung, which is a traditional game in the form of palms and elbow movements on the surface of the water, resulting in unique sounds. From the sounds of the game Icikibung, it was copied and moved to a bamboo musical instrument called Celempung. The basic ingredients of celempung musical instruments are round shaped made of bamboo, while the hexagon and octagonal shapes are made of wood. The bat is made of bamboo or wood which has a cloth or a thin object to produce a loud sound. How to play this instrument there are two ways, namely a) how to hit; the two grooves of the stroke are beaten alternately depending on the rhythms and sounds desired by the music player, b) sound processing; Namely the left hand is used to process the sound to regulate the size of the air coming out of the celung (body) flower. If you want a high sound hole (baham) to open bigger, while for a low sound the hole is tightly closed The celempung sound can vary depending on the intelligence of the music player. For now this instrument has rarely been played, in the celempungan ensemble its role has been replaced with drums and kulanters.
