Asa Voss has a secret, one that caused him to lose ten years of his life.  He was wrongfully accused and convicted of murdering a woman he loved.  Once he is released from prison, he has to get away from the home he has known, so he takes off on his motorcycle.  Asa stumbles into a quiet little town called Winfall.  There he meets new people and makes new friends, including Mercy Blake, a young woman he becomes closer to by the minute.  Suddenly, her friends become his friends, and things seem to be looking up for him.  That is, until his past comes back to haunt him.

The new friends he made get a wake up call when, one by one, someone tries to murder them, someone from Asa's past.  And no one is in more danger than the one he has grown the closest to: Mercy.
