When time travelers from the 24th Century take refuge in the 21st after time travel leaves Earth in intimate destruction, they become Drifters residing as shadows in a world that is out of time.
In hope of changing Earth's fate, Drifters preform missions using the history they have accumulated to correct humanities major mistakes; saving lives, reliefing disasters and preventing wars. But in order for this to have any purpose they must complete their main mission; stop time travel from ever being invented.
But what the Drifters don't know is that there are some 24th's who still want to preserve time travel and will go to great extents to do so.

Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. Before Mankind became the dominant force in the Milky Way, Earth was in shambles. Natural resources were nearly depleted, diseases were rampant and most of Earth's population was in poverty. Then by some miracle of discovery or a cruel cosmic joke, in the mid-23rd century when all humanity could do was go out into space to search for a new home, a small planet that was black as the void around it was discovered.
