When you are the Queen of assassins you must be cautious. Everyone you know hides secrets and there are targets around every corner. The only place you are safe is within the confines of the lands you have protected over the years. But what happens when the one person you looked up to for everything turns against you?
Queen Camalia of Tradimento, also known as the Orphan Queen, knows just what betrayal feels like. She has continued on her ancestors legacy and kept the Guild of Assassins from being revealed. She has helped expand it all across the country but her lands were the founding place of the assassins. Under the guise of a peaceful religious paradise her subjects and friends have prosperoured and are more than willing to help her rid the world of murderers and scumbags.
She does her job well and her routine is always the same. Until one day when a group of King Richards knights arrive with the King himself in the lead. The kings appearance causes an uproar in her kingdom but it is not the king who catches her eye. Ian of Riscatto, the Knight and best friend to King Richard has secrets like most everything in Camalia's life. He is unlike any other she has met and she finds herself feeling things she never has towards someone of the opposite sex. Before her encounters with men were purely platonic but her relationship with Ian is anything but.
He is exciting and enticing and she wants to know more about this mysterious knight. But, just as she feels herself fall for him, the king is kidnapped and she is left behind as his knights go in search of their king. Unlike other ladies this Queen isn't easily thwarted and a suspicious note proves she is just as much apart of the plot than her knight originally thought.
