1947, Los Angeles California. Detective Kurt Hughes does an investigation of a potential murder and fires at the wrong man killing him. He is not given any punishment for his crimes and acts out causing him to be jailed and fined but not for long as he escapes. Walking around undercover notices a young woman begging officers to continue the search for her missing son, but is called off after a few months. Knowing that he already has nothing to lose he decides to help her. Knowing that it is against federal law to perform an investigation, he can't bear to see her lose herself like he has, and will do anything to reunite mother and son.All Rights Reserved

Cass Landry being the mysterious new girl with a tendency to practice magic illegally, Rebecca being notorious for lighting up every room she walks into, and Mallory being the second in command it-girl of Black Veil, as famed as she is feared. After a magical attempt to escape detention goes terribly, horribly wrong and their ethics teacher winds up dead (ironic, they know), Cass must band together with Rebecca, the girl she "totally doesn't like", and Mallory, another girl she doesn't like (but like...for real this time) to find a spell that can bring their teacher back to life before her situation becomes permanent. A spell of this caliber, however, requires that they venture into the underground world of their picturesque town, striking a deal with a powerful gang leader that not only raises the stakes, but gives them an even tighter timeline. And though as a witch Cass has personal experience with life and death, the pressure that she's facing now might just be too tough to handle. Luckily, she's not alone.
