I backed up, bumping into the kitchen table as my mom, no that thing my mother had become, turned to the sound of my voice. It's eyes the color of the blood on its face. I was in shock. How could this happen?! I whimpered. She lunged at me snarling. Gripping her skinny shoulders in my hands I struggled to keep her gnashing teeth away from me. Her nails scratched across my cheek drawing blood. I pushed as hard as I could, quickly grabbing the carving knife and with a hard thrust I pushed it into her skull as she again prepared to attack. Her body fell, with a soft thud, into a heap on the floor. What have I done....
