Erkenci Kuş: Broken Promises
Snippets of alternate outcomes in the lives and enduring love story of Can Divit and Sanem Aydin. When I started out with this story, I only intended to loosely base the 'short piece' on the events in Bolum (Episodes) 17 & 18 however, I got such positive feedback, I decided to stretch it out a bit. I'm still unsure how far I will stretch it but so far, I'm enjoying writing it and will keep going till I run out of steam. I can't think of any show/movie that I've watched in recent times to which I have reacted as I did when I watched Erkenci Kuş. The characters hooked their claws into me and wouldn't let go. I rooted for Sanem and Can; cried and laughed with them; railed at and cursed their detractors and finally rejoiced over their reunion. However, the ending was so rushed. After all the angst we were put through with their relationship, I felt robbed of an extended happily-ever-after. What we were given was too short. I hope to right that wrong, amongst others, with this story. Though I only watched the show in Jan/Feb 2023, I have since rewatched it countless times. There were certain parts of the plot which wound me up so much so this is me writing what I wished had happened. Enjoy!Complete

14 year old Sanem, just received a scholarship for being top of her class, to one of the most prestigious schools in Instanbul. It won't be easy for an average girl from the Mahalle to be in a school like this. Most kids in this school are from upper class families with money. It will a challenge, but she's more than ready. Can is an 18 year old senior at this school, very popular. Smart and athletic. And very rich , his father owns one of the best advertising agencies in Instanbul. It's been so, so long since I've even thought about writing fanfiction but I've recently been inspired by the amazing Erkensci Kus, the Turkish romcom. It was hard leaving, but fate had plans for the sisters. Can Divit, is a world renowned photographer, comes from a wealthy family. He's kind of a wild card, but has a heart of gold. But doesn't like to show it. His brother Emre works in the family business, but Can is happy doing what he does best. But his father wants him to settle into the business. But Can still wants to travel, but who knows what the future holds.Complete
