Harry wasn't your typical teenager. Not at all. 
Why is that?
Well, that's easy. Because he still believed in fairies.
He used to go to his grandmother's house during his summer holydays when he was little and there he used to have two special friends. They were fairies and they were happy and carefree. But still, everyone kept saying that they were just his imaginary friends.
But only when he will be seventeen and he will go back to his grandmother's because his mother was left with nothing by her umpteenth boyfriend, he will discover the truth.
