Srren is thrown from the city of Dis due to his cronic addiction to mortal narcotics. He lives on the surface for years going through the motions of withdrawal and sobriety, until his sister inturrupts his quiet life and throws him head first into a responsibility he is less than ready for. 

His father is soon to be retiring from his position as Lord of Dis and after the treason of Srren's eldest brother, there is no one left to take the throne other than Srren himself. 

Armed with just his wits Srren must make it through the six hills of The Ninth and prove his worthiness to rule. His uncles, however, has other plans.
