In a land ruled by magic and blade, there is a man who aspires to be a warrior. Talented with his sword, he strives to graduate from the school he attends as a Knight. During a mock training battle, the School comes under attack as a mercenary force invades in an attempt to cripple the renewal of the land's army- in the ensuing attack he is brutally killed. In the depths of the void, he feels lost, confused. There is no hope. A light shines in the darkness, promising peace from this hellish limbo. However, a voice cries out to him in the dark, in his mind. The words come from a girl, though he does not her. The sharp words inspire him to turn away from the light, and he wakes up, heavily injured, but no longer with fatal wounds. Unsure of how to react, he becomes the sole survivor of the massacre. For his bravery and surviving, he is promoted to the rank of Knight. However, the words he heard in death not only inspire him, but pull his heart and soul, tugging on them. He journeys West, following the emotions that rage within him. Encountering more danger, he finds himself dead inadvertently. Once more the ardent words call to him, the girl in his dreams begging him to not leave her. He turns away from the light once more, awakening under the night sky drenched in blood. The words call to him once more, pulling him closer towards his destiny.
