Shadows

Shadows. Defined as "a dark area where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object", they do not even have a physical form. Yet, Sheila has a conscious. What does that make her? She's not sure she'll ever find out.

After twenty years as a Shadow, she is suddenly given a body, a form, matching her host. Her new found freedom is short lived (like, short lived) before she's told that she - and nine other like her - are going to 'take over the surface' under the command of a centuries old Shadow, their 'father'. She almost misses when she was the dark patch on the ground.
