Stella and her friend, Amanda, sneak backstage at a 5 Seconds of Summer concert in San Fran. After being caught by security, Calum Hood tells the guards that it's okay if they are back there. After Stella meets Ashton, she starts to grow to like him more and more. He calls her beautiful, takes her out on "dates", and will spend whole days with her. But also, he says he will break up with his girlfriend, Emma, but doesn't, is competitive with her, which she loves but hates at the same time, and will say that he loves her and will take it back, followed by many other things. All that Stella can think at this time is that it is a love hate relationship. If she can even call it a relationship.
