For a century the church did its job erasing them from the minds of men. The creatures, the magic, they became nothing more than tales told to scare children, they became myths, they became legends. Only, they could never erase the disease left behind. The blight, and they could do little to prevent it from destroying the world they sought to the control.

Arthur loved listening to the stories, the myths of the lost isles and his grandfather loved telling them. Then he disappeared, leaving behind the most famous momento of his stories, Captain Rizel's pocket watch. Arthur became obsessed and when his new prodige caught the blight he had no choice but to pursue what he believed was the cause of his grandfather's disappearance, a cure.

Zeph looked up, meeting those mysterious eyes. "What exactly are you?"

"That, I cannot tell you. Your parents made me swear an oath and to my kind, breaking such a promise would mean death. You will know when you're ready. For now, well, it is always good to have something to look forward to."

"You always say that when you don't want to tell me something."

"Forgive me master, wise words from a man I once met. He saved my life."

Zephs parents died, he'd killed them and even though he inherited everything, he knew nothing. So he left. With his faithful servant as well as mentor at his side he set out on a quest to solve the only thing he'd brought from his past. A mystery, a legend, the legend of the Phoenix and the Fox.

On a fateful night, Max Walker finds himself summoned to Asterisk and contracted to Liliana Lockwood as her familiar. Forced to leave behind his life on Earth, Max begins a precarious journey into the unknown world of magic. Training as a knight, learning to control mana, battling rogue necromancers and even being mistaken for Duke Walker's son... it's just one thing after the next. But as if that wasn't bad enough, Asterisk, a world which subverts reality as you know it, may just have something to do with Max's own heaven-defying origin... and a secret that could leave the universe hanging by a thread. Myths. Gods. Humans. These races are widely known for being the pieces that make up Mythology; however, one race has been lost to the recesses of time. Mythians. The forgotten race of peacemakers born to protect the world from war and chaos. Well that's what they told me in class anyway, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Life before Mr. Gale's Mythian Academy was simple: I only ever worried about what I was going to eat for dinner, what book I was going to read next, or whether my siblings would be able to make it through high school after me, but now life's gotten a lot more complicated because before hurling me down a hole, Alice would be jealous of, my headmaster gave me this letter explaining the unbelieveable truth. ⁓⁓⁓ To my dear First Years, The artifact stolen from the Academy is essential for the continuation of our existence. As you continue in your studies at the Academy, if you are successful, you will come to understand what all of this means, but for now, you three are our best chance to retrieve it. I plead with you: do not lose your sense of self and try hard to work together to achieve your final goal. I suggest working together no matter how different your personalities may be. Teamwork will be your salvation. Your Teacher, Mr. Gale P.S. If you're ever lost just check the map. It will guide you throughout your journey. Oh and you must know, every myth that has ever had you in awe, every being that has ever frightened you, and everything you dream of truly exists. Goodluck.

"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?
