Author: John Steinbeck Here, in this short book illumined by the deep understanding and love of humanity that have made John Steinbeck one of the most beloved writes of our day is an old Mexican folk story. It is the story of the great pearl; how it was found and lost again. It is a simple story of simple people, recounted with the warmth and sincerity and unrivalled craftsmanship which Steinbeck brings to his writing. It is deeply moving and so beautifully presented that the reader's hope for mankind is rekindled. Of this story of Kino the fisherman, his wife Coyitito and Juana their baby, Mr. Steinbeck himself writes: "As with all re-told tales that are in people's hearts, there are only good and bad things and black and white things, and no in-between things anywhere."

WARNING This book is terribly old and the writing is horrible! Halfway through it gets a little bit better and the POV changes! I intend to rewrite it eventually but will leave it up because it stands as a reminder to how far I have come!
