I pause."My name."
"Your what?" He looks at me like I'm crazy.
"I changed my name. I go by Elle now. My-"
"Your middle name." He finishes.
I nod, biting my lip and looking away.
"Because you're named after-"
"Jack, I don't want to talk about it."
"Then don't."
I bite my lip. This is the most nervous I've been around this person since middle school. I fight back the tears that have been threatening to fall since I was a teenager.
"Diane, tell me what happened."
So I did.
Life goes on, but why can't it for Diane? Her and Jack Morrison were the "perfect" high school couple, but after high school, they went their separate ways. After seven years of not seeing each other, they begin realize that they're better off together than apart.
