Life has never seemed more serene than as I lay dying.

Blood coats the forest floor beneath me, connecting with the foilage-covered soil in a parade of musty, copper smells.

Through the rain drops that fall on me from the treetops, I can feel the icy breath of a dawning winter.

It will be cold this year.

It's a shame Ill never see it- I love the cold.

Most cold.

This cold that envelopes me now is hostile and uninviting, almost empty.

They say that when you're faced with death, your life flashes before your eyes. The same could not be said for me.

All I can think about in that moment, is the wolf.

Re-posting. The common story is that finding a mate is supposed to make the wolf stronger. For an alpha, finding his mate, blessed by the moon goddess, strengthens the pack. But there can be such darkness hidden in that dynamic. Even those of cruel hearts can seek the power of a mate. And the damage they cause might not ever be healed. ***** Prologue: Drip. Drip. Drip. The rhythm or the water would have been soothing if it hadn't been so cruel. Drip. As it was, it was nothing more than a taunting form of torture. Drip. Ears could hear the soft thudding of raindrops at the end of the hall as a door was pulled open in squeaking protests and then shut with a harsh metallic clang. How the rain made its way into the depths of the cement room, it didn't matter. It was there. Drip. Step. Drip. Step. The footsteps were strong and full of purpose. Though just as unwanted as the drops of water that fell too far out of reach. Unable to quench the dehydrated desperation chained to the wall. Drip. Step. Drip. Step. Only one set of footsteps. There was no question of the destination or purpose that carried them down the hall. Not that it was a surprise. It was always the same. First the pain, then the visit. The cell door opened to darkness. There was no energy to move, not even enough to will eyelids to open. Not that it mattered. The visit never changed. What more could be said? What more could be done? All that mattered was that stale, barely edible food was only given after he was done. Only then, could there be any comfort from hell. ***** WARNING- This story does delve into topics of kidnapping, imprisonment, rape, murder, and violence. Though the scenes are not explicitly detailed, underage readers are discouraged. Also note that I do not own the rights to any photos I have or might post for this story. Just photos I found online, cropped and edited. The story however, is all mine. No copy of content is permitted.

After encountering something of myths one day after work, Valentina begins questioning her once mundane world. Seeking answers to prove she's not crazy, she receives another shocking truth that hits even closer to home. Mason returns home to escape his past, but familiar faces return, and new threats arrive in town. Keeping an eye on the enemy, he struggles to avoid getting involved any more than he should. But, when their paths cross, they learn not everything is black and white, and the people you least suspect could be your enemy. ------ 'This is a dumb idea' she thought to herself. Slowly she began reaching her hand towards the animal, feeling compelled to touch it. Would it be as soft as it looked? Did it want her to touch it? The rain continued pelting them, but it felt like its eyes were drawing her into another space, where nothing else mattered. The sudden desire to be closer to this animal was beginning to overtake her mind, especially as her hand neared its head. The whole time the animal only watched her with those large eyes. She imagined it almost asking for her touch. It didn't cross her mind how she knew he'd be soft, or how she even knew the creature was a 'he' to begin with. As her finger just barely grazed the animal, multiples things happened. She felt something shock her causing her to pull her hand back, just as thunder and lightning sounded. When the light cleared the animals' eyes, were narrowed into slits, and it was growling. It was a deep menacing sound that sent her stumbling backward, heart wildly beating. It bared fangs the size of her hand alone dipping its head. Had her touch angered the animal into finally attacking her? She kept moving backward in the rain, slipping in her converses as the creature continued growling. It was then she knew she was prepared to run, no matter what happened. [DISCONTINUED] **MATURE LANGUAGE AND CONTENT** **POSSIBLE TRIGGERS** WATTYS2018 I walk down the staircase, entranced with his sharp, angular features. I notice how his lip curls up at the edge when he sees me. A soft breeze blows his scent across the room, and I can't think. Roses and salty ocean waves fill my nostrils.
