Life has never seemed more serene than as I lay dying. 

Blood coats the forest floor beneath me, connecting with the foilage-covered soil in a parade of musty, copper smells.

Through the rain drops that fall on me from the treetops, I can feel the icy breath of a dawning winter. 

It will be cold this year. 

It's a shame Ill never see it- I love the cold.

Most cold. 

This cold that envelopes me now is hostile and uninviting, almost empty. 

They say that when you're faced with death, your life flashes before your eyes. The same could not be said for me. 

All I can think about in that moment, is the wolf.

When I turn the corner I see a boy about 20 and am hit with an overpowering smell something like fresh cut wood and autumn leaves. It is amazing. I see the guy turn towards me and duck behind the house I am standing by before he sees me. Nope! Not him! Not happening! I hear footsteps coming towards me and run. Into the woods I find a pine tree. Perfect! Pine trees are great hiding places. The branches hide you visually and the smell masks your scent. I climb up as quickly as I can and watch the guy approaching. He circles my tree looking around but eventually gives up and goes back towards the houses. "Mate!" My wolf happily purs. "Not him!" As her finger just barely grazed the animal, multiples things happened. She felt something shock her causing her to pull her hand back, just as thunder and lightning sounded. When the light cleared the animals' eyes, were narrowed into slits, and it was growling. It was a deep menacing sound that sent her stumbling backward, heart wildly beating. It bared fangs the size of her hand alone dipping its head. Had her touch angered the animal into finally attacking her? She kept moving backward in the rain, slipping in her converses as the creature continued growling. It was then she knew she was prepared to run, no matter what happened.
