Claire never had an interest for serious swimming, therefore when she became older didn't know anyone her age, since they had all grown up in swimming lessons and competitions. The one pool party Claire got invited to she was seriously left out and made fun of since she couldn't swim well. This summer before high school, she is done with "hiding above waves" and decides to teach herself how to swim. It starts off ok, but then something, or someone, snags her attention away...and leaves her breathless under the water...
