Syrena Ravenscar wants to live in the New York Institute and be a normal Shadowhunter. But she's worried that she'll accidentally set something on fire or her skin will turn green or that someone will notice that her real eyes have no pupils. And now Jace Herondale has taken to climbing through her window while dating that red-headed girl named Clary who according to Magnus is the viciously jealous type.

Lines are crossed and the alcohol flows in this post-COHF saga of intrigue and scandal.

+++Excerpt from Chapter One: It Was a Pleasure to Meet You+++

“I’m so stupid!” Syrena complained as she entered the apartment of Magnus Bane. She flopped onto his couch and stroked Chairman Meow.

“What is it this time?” Magnus entered. Syrena noticed that he was dressed simply in a blue sweater with a cat on it and black pants.

“I ran into some Shadowhunters and Lux just had to eat with them because she knew one of them. And I was a total dork.” Syrena covered her eyes.

“I’m sure you were adorable.” Syrena felt Magnus’s hand stroke her hair. He picked up her head and sat down before placing her head on a pillow in his lap.

“Magnus, I’m hopeless.” Syrena groaned. “I made a fool of myself. I’ll never be able to truly acclimate into Institute life.” she pouted. “I was so worried about whether I would start changing colors or accidentally set something on fire again or my eyes showing.” Syrena sighed.

Magnus’s long fingers stroked through her pastel colored/fawn colored hair, “Syrena, it’s not about worrying. It’s about not worrying doll.”
