I had only seen her face before on a poster my father had brought home about a year ago. When I questioned him on her identity, he flew into a rage.

"This," He has pointed at the woman with enough force I was sure he would rip the poster in two. "Is the scourge of our economy! This morceau de merde could ruin France with enough people. Her crew runs less than twenty and yet she is able to steal from merchants all across the Côte d'Azur! This, Madeleine, is the salope who calls herself The Lady Captain!"

Madeleine Louise Durand is the daughter of a wealthy merchant in the coastal Toulon, France. She enjoys the quiet things, like sewing, commerce, rejecting suitors, and looking at the stars.

Neither Lady nor Pirate (Complete) by sophie9630

Abbie has never been what one would call a typical lady. Trying to keep up with England's rich and powerful is far too much work, and Abbie has never enjoyed the endless games of chasing acknowledgement form her peers. When she's engaged rather unwillingly to the wealthiest lord in London, she knows without a doubt it will be the worst thing she'll ever face. So what does she do? She runs. Finn has been roaming the seas as a pirate aboard The Iron Lady for ten years. Since the death of his father, he's been pirating to provide for his mother, sister, and her two children--all the while unbeknownst to them. While there have been a number of heists that have ended favorably, their poor condition has changed little. Finn wearies of life at sea, and begins thinking about leaving the business to return home to Ireland for good. When he kidnaps a businessman's teenage daughter, he is absolutely certain that the ransom payoff will be the one to end his career as a pirate. Abbie has always thought that pirates are uneducated, cruel, and just plain terrible company. Finn is certain that rich girls are snobby and selfish and is dreading spending any time with one aboard the ship. But when their journey together begins, they find that their expectations might be entirely incorrect. With the voyage of The Iron Lady spanning the globe from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, from the Iberian Peninsula to England, neither lady nor pirate will be able to resist the adventure--and romance--that will come along with it.

* * * "...Why are you following me?" I only muttered in case no one was really there. I didn't want any surrounding people to think I was crazy and just imagining someone behind me. "I didn't even get a thank you." To my surprise, there was a response. Slightly horrified, I spun around to look my rescuer in the eyes. Scratch that. In the mask. He was wearing a mask. * * * Saved from a rapist by a pirate. At first, Vivienne sees pirates as scums. She believes all of them are full of greed. Well, Vivienne isn't completely wrong. But when she accidentally boards a pirate ship belonging to the Masquerade Messes, her entire life takes a turn. Perhaps for the better, perhaps for the worse... either way, Vivienne occupies her time by trying to identify her rescuer. He's a part of the crew, but the only time he appears is during the masquerade parties. She tries to figure out who he is, but she struggles badly. He's just always masked. * * * //completed as of 12/15/16//
