"As I laid on the filthy mat, my white hair fanning out like a halo around my head, I felt that ice inside of me fester. It grew and spread until it spanned across my entire body. It engulfed every thought inside my head, every feeling that was bubbling up inside of me. Like a virus. The cold quieted it all, until everything was still and silent... Until I felt nothing at all." Eira Gellert's world comes crumbling down as her sister is forced to leave for the army. Now alone and desperate, Eira looks for a job in a society where if you don't have a job by nineteen you either go into the army or starve. Shattered Court
She was born a Halfling. Made a Warrior. Crowned in blood. Xadie Durate-Greenbriar never wanted a crown. She wanted freedom - to ride through faerie lands, no silk gowns, and to live far from the venom of court politics. But when a forgotten relic resurfaces, threatening to tip the balance of power, Xadie is thrust into a deadly game of lies, loyalty, and betrayal. Sent to retrieve the relic with Rowan, the son of a rival king and her sworn enemy, Xadie uncovers a plot that could destroy everything she loves. As secrets unravel and hearts betray, she must choose between duty and desire, vengeance and mercy. Power is seductive, but thorns draw blood. I am absolutly obsessed with Holly Black's Folk of Air seires, her books inspired me to start writing my own stories, which are currently a work in progress. Xadie's conditon is based on my own experiences with Hypoglycaemia and my blood pressure issues, as I have never seen anyone woth my condition in a book, I decided to bring it forward into my own
