"Let me go," she whispered solemnly. His grip on her wrist tightened as he sighed. The tears on her face continued to add up as they slowly dripped down from her eyelids, making it difficult for him to speak.
"No," he deadpanned, "because if I were to do that, then we'll never finish the story."
"What story," she questioned. She was laughing now. Though it was without humor, her laugh only angered him more.
"The one where we find out if you ever truly loved me," he said.

As humans, we're all afraid of something. Some of us are afraid of being alone. Others are afraid of getting hurt. But Callie Jacob was afraid of something a little different. She was afraid of falling.

The real problem was that she already tripped. And so had he. And maybe they were too young, as some people said. Maybe they were too late, or too naive. That didn't matter. Because what they felt wasn't going away.

But actually, she wasn't afraid of falling in love with him for any ordinary reason. The reason was that if she fell for him, she wouldn't ever have a family. And she also didn't want to disappoint her brother. Though she already had.

She now must decide between family, or him. And her decision may just make things more complicated than they already are.
