"Cashing A Check" was the first poem that I had written in 45 years and the book of the same name was the first book of poems (actually a chapbook) was the first poetry anthology that I had ever published. Now, 13 years after the first poem and 10 years after this book, I am the Poet Laureate of the Town of Yorktown, NY, a member of the American Academy of Poets and Poets & Writers, and the author of six collections of poetry (his most recent "Live At The Freight House" is available at Amazon in both paperback and Kindle formats).

My incarnation as a poet is described in the poem "Poetry" (which is really taken from another chapbook, "With A Chip On My Shoulder" and is the the only poem not in the original Cashing A Check Volume), the second poem here.

Life takes funny twists and turns!

Notes:

•	"Guinan's" is the legendary, now defunct, Irish Pub located on the banks of the Hudson in Garrison, New York
•	Msgr. Thomas Sandi is the pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish in Shrub Oak, NY
•	The neighborhood, in which many memories described here are set, is "Inwood", the northern most tip of Manhattan Island. The time referred to was the pre-pill, eighteen legal drinking age period in New York

third poem collection. they aren't in any particular order or anything like that, and after 100, there will always be a new one. if you've been here a while, I'm sure you know the drill. now, about the cover. it was a random Thursday, and an old friend and I went to Cottonwood Island Park in PG. this bridge is covered in graffiti and writing, and it has been painted over to cover it up, or boards have been replaced to get rid of it. yet, there's always writing on this bridge. it felt like no matter what, nobody can silence the voices that need to be heard. and I felt that. anyways, please enjoy this chaotic collection of poetry.
