Even if he is a prankster and jokes, around he wanted to think that when it came down to it he was honest with himself and others. He spoke from the heart and told the truth to those he really cared about, right?
Sans wanted to think he was a good person, but good people don't lie to everyone around them about who they really are. Good people are honest and dependable, they know who they are and help others find themselves.
He was supposed to be a good person.
But in reality he's a lying skeleton in a closet.
