"You don't need to worry, you can trust me. You can always trust me."

River has lived a pretty abnormal life to begin with, but now is pushed out of their usual bubble.

With old friends off in various places, River ends up making new ones and getting pulled in all sorts of adventures that end rather poorly. Adventures that sometimes pull them apart just to bring them back, closer than ever. Adventures that deal with ghosts, storms, and into finding things they don't understand.

But this isn't even the tip of the iceberg. A mysterious man keeps visiting River, telling them to call him 'C' or 'Catalyst'. He whispers praise, promise of power and promptings. River knows there's something wrong with him but it's hard to resist what he offers.

"I'm just like you." Catalyst tells River. "I can make you stronger. I can teach you things that nobody else can. All I need from you is your cooperation."

And how can an offer like that go untouched?

River learns of secrets hidden deep where nobody wanted them to be found, learns new things, and starts to grow to realize that not everything is as it seems, and wonder if Catalyst is the only one who doesn't lie to them. They're not the only one, their friends meet somebody who knows a lot more than he's letting on and they all start to see something more sinister going on.

Lies and history thought forgotten, brought to the light.
Betrayal and torture beating down on those who get in the way.
Ghosts and a secret organization called 'Dissolve' who spring up from the darkness.

River is getting in too deep, and it's getting awfully hard to breath...

Guardians of the Light (Book 1: Rebirth) by Kat_Penney

Many centuries ago, an unspoken darkness swept across the land taking all that was light and pure in the world with it. Creatures of this darkness roamed free to spread the darkness wherever they went consuming any trace of light remaining. In order to stop The Darkness from controlling the world, a group of priests took the remaining pieces of light and placed them within the body of two chosen children. They became known as the Children of the Light. Their sacrifice was not in vain, leaving behind spoken words for the next generation of children born with the pure light energy within them. Over time an organisation built on these words was formed called The Guardians, who were tasked to seek out the next chosen children and protect them from The Darkness should it rise again. Centuries have come and gone as the battle between the light and the darkness still rages on, unaware of the human race that creatures live among them and that a battle between them and the guardians has gone on for many years. Present day we find ourselves in a small city named New Haeven that has become the centre of the secret world of light and dark. The current story follows a Guardian by the name of Ronin. Ronin saw the faces of the new Children of the Light and was tasked by the Elders to track them down and protect them at all costs. The children were both college students and were one male and one female whose names were James Hillman and Sara Danvers..When Ronin went to see he ran into a ghost from his past, Lillian. The story continues on with Ronin seeking answers from the Elders about how a Guardian could come back from the dead.

DEDICATED: to the biggest piece of shit I've ever known. A new deathmetal band has climbed the ranks, following closely behind the ever-loved Dethklok and gaining traction with each step. Rather than eliminate the rivalry, (as their 'robotic' manager Charles Ofdensen would probably normally do), he invites them to the ultimate deathmetal collab between the two bands. However, once the other band actually steps foot into Mordhaus, all plans for the album quickly crumble, as drama arises, love quarrels erupt, competition stirs, bodies of loved ones drop one by one, and everyone always seems to know more of one thing or another, than they actually let on. As well as finding themselves in strange dream-states, noticing rapid weather changes, combating against old enemies with a vengeance, and having a sense of old familiarity between the members of the two bands, whom they hadn't met before then... supposedly; not to mention a traitor living among them. Not everything is as it seems, but they need to figure it all out fast because the pressure of impending doom is hanging over everyone's heads. *Disclaimer* I do not own any of the original Metalocalypse characters or the idea behind it; only the original characters, and the storyline that does not correlate or connect with the real plot of Metalocalypse, belong to me. I am not being paid for this, this is solely for fun. Thank you. *Any alterations to the story created by anybody else is 100% non-canon, which includes different names, and any personality changes for my OCs. I started this project early 2020 on google docs and first uploaded it on wattpad/archivesofourown on 5/22-25/21. Any work I've created with another person on this story aside from my partner has been discarded and is not relevant to the story anymore, thank you.*

(This story contains extremely sensitive topics) Around 20 years ago, an unknown virus plagued the Earth, one that attacks genetic codes and destroys whatever it infiltrates. Humans, animals, plants, you name it. In order to adapt to this living nightmare, daily routines suffered an overhaul. But even so cities fell, nations were destroyed, countries obliterated by the scourge of war. Humanity driven to the brink of extinction. In a desperate attempt to save the remnants of mankind, "Colonies" were created. Strategically placed in areas the infected are naturally unable to congregate in. For some unknown reason, they disintegrate or break themselves apart in desperate attempts to escape the inside of a Colony. On the flip-side, they often create nests where they're attracted to others of their kind. The motives that result in such behavior have yet to be discovered. These are called "Contamination Zones". Pools of infection that produce genetic amalgams beyond human comprehension. The fuel for nightmares that plague even the strongest of minds. In addition, several of these Colonies and outposts have started to rapidly perish. Dozens of them breached all over the continent. The infected seem to be growing stronger. This world has given Kayden Moss gentle insight into it's offers. It has made him travel from place to place, Colony or not, in order to simply awaken to fight another day. Eventually, at 19 years old, he came across a peculiar Colony named Zamaton, where he's lived ever since. News of the breaches reach the Warden of the Colony, Rhys, who demands measures to ensure everyone's safety start taking effect. Kayden however, is unaware of them, getting summoned into Rhys's office without previous notice. This only occurs for important matters, or for him to receive scolding for his actions. Whatever the case, he's sure the news are sour. Depending on the situation, the breaches might remain away from the Colony. Or so it seems.

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?
