17 year old Lucas Xu is the youngest son of Brandon and Monica Xu, owners of the family-run restaurant The Lily Pond. He's optimistic and semi-studious and spends his time navigating his life between his parents' restaurant, his semi-cool, semi-geeky friends (Marvel movie marathon, anyone?), and making his very obvious crush on Pharah Hendrix...well, more than just a crush.
17 year old Pharah Hendrix is the plus-size, curvaceous niece to Molly Grier, co-owner of The Black Feather, a burlesque-dance bar Pharah fell in love with the moment she stepped inside. She's relatively quiet, but far from anti-social and has lately found herself in the company of one Lucas Xu, a smiley guy with a gentle hand on her heart and a willingness to do anything to make her laugh.
They don't seem like a likely couple, but Lucas couldn't care less about what other people think as long as Pharah likes him and Pharah finds that she does, indeed, like him very much. Their separate views of the future, however, will eventually clash and Pharah will wonder how Lucas will see her...when she can't give him the life he dreams of.
