He was halfway through reading the page when his boat rocked violently, making the recorder drop as he stumbled to get a grip on the railing. His left hand clutched his book to his chest as he scanned the waves in confusion, another shake rocking the boat.
A shrill sound brought his attention to his right. He could barely see the remnants of a brownish colored tail slipping under the water. The boy stared in confusion.
