Growing up, Deloris was always told to stay out of the way and keep her head low. Growing up in the early fifties, that's what black people were expected to do; but Deloris had other plans. With big dreams and big expectations, she was determined to break all barriers at all costs; even if that meant falling for a boy that she was forbidden to love.
