Nigel Mallory was born into a fallen world where the towns are surrounded by dark forests and covered by the tree canopy to hide from the dragons that fly overhead. 

Little did he know the real danger he faced was right at home when he and his mother are mysteriously visited by a man who kills Nigel's mother and vanishes into the night. 

Nigel, who hates himself for being what he considers a monster, along with his longtime girlfriend Lily followed by the energetic and clairvoyant Kieran go off in search for the answer to Nigel's inner turmoil at the behest of a mad fortune teller. 

Along the way they fight through the deep terrors of the forest, Nigel discovers a long lost relative, learns his true feelings for Kieran and seeks the revenge he craved since childhood, all while satisfying his literal thirst for blood.
