Vita has only one friend and that is Jarvis Flint, the son of a very powerful sorcerer (and Vita does not know) One day, she and Jarvis run away and go through the Forest that is forbidden and stumble across a girl with short black hair who leads them to her father's School for Apprentices, where Vita meets new friends and uncovers startling secrets and unseen truths, including how her parents died.
