Inwood is the northern most neighborhood on Manhattan Island. When I grew up there in mid-40s thru mid-60s, when I left, it was an Irish Catholic / Jewish neighborhood and, since the groups usually didn't usually hang around together (with some exceptions; some Jewish folks hung with the Irish Catholics, not usually the other way around). It was home to the only true forest in New York in Inwood Park where we played baseball, softball, basketball, and football -- and took to "The Woods" for underage drinking and smoking. At that time, Inwood had more bars than any New York City neighborhood and radio personality and newspaper columnist Walter Winchell refered to it as "Ginwood"
The Inwood Book contains a few poems, a few stories -- some fiction, some not -- and a novella, "OfferingIy Up"
