Lucas Young is missing. Dead, more likely, but no one wants to admit that truth; no one except for Lyra.
On the anniversary of her best friends disappearance, Lyra is ready to accept the inevitability of his death. But when mysterious men show up at her home, threatening her life and that of her family, she too disappears from the town, kidnapped.
But it isn't the local gang that's taken her captive; these men are far, far worse. These men aren't human.

The man's eyes bore into mine, his face so beautiful it was deadly. The cruelty of his actions could never match the smooth darkness of his iris', so black and cold against the whites of his eyes. It was like watching the ocean waves crash against the shore at midnight. If it were possible, I would jump into his eyes and swim in their depths for eternity. I wanted to vomit, to scream, to cry, to do anything but go with the two strangers in front of me, no matter how alluring I found their eyes.
And yet, all I could bring myself to do was ask:
"Where will you take me?"
His eyes did not move from my own as he spoke.

She'd spent many years playing in this forest as a child. Books of all sizes and shapes, no matter the content, because it made her feel close to her sister just as she had before her parents died. She thought of her family now, how she was all alone. Her parents had been gone for years, her grandmother, and now even Selene was missing somewhere. She needed to find her sister, she couldn't lose the last bit of her family. **Complete
