Awakened

Leila's life has been in shambles since the day that she was born. An victim of abusive parents and an abusive boyfriend, she's never known anything other than the dark side of love. A college student and part-time employee, she's living her regular life, until that one night that changed everything.

"Lux, I can't do this," Leila said her voice a quiet whisper of velvet.

"You can and you will," he said, his voice firm. "Or would you rather die along with the rest of these people?"

His voice compassionate and tender as he stared at her with an intense look in his eyes.

Leila's eyes moved up to his face and she blinked away tears. Though, her parents were exactly model citizens they had been the only people that she knew and they weren't always abusive to her. In fact, her mother was often a different person when her father was away. Watching them be killed in a crowded room full of blood thirsty creatures had been painful, yet oddly fulfilling. It was a contradiction within itself, but she had a love and hate relationship with her parents.

"Answer me," he said in a soft velvet growl.

"No, I don't want to die," she said, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Then, you'll do as I say."
