These are the factors of what society holds.
We each hold a mask close to ourselves in hopes to protect us from the unknown.
Of course, not everyone can keep a secret.
This book is based on the true story of a friend of mine who is able to see the truth behind everyone. They're able to see what people have experienced and therefore understand why they act the way they do.
This book is based on the fact that everybody has a mask to guide ourselves through life, though sometimes that mask just isn't strong enough.
Please note that this book is not for the faint-hearted and will mention abuse (including sexual abuse), suicide, trauma and reality experiences.

We do switch from one mask to another for every person in life. We do say "I am an open book in front of a particular person" but we all know either 1 or the other thing maybe the most minor thing that can be. We do hide from that person. Does that mean we are lying? Does that mean we are not loyal or trustworthy? Does that mean we don't value their love and care? Does that mean we are playing with feelings? This story is for my little brother. He was the best man I ever knew, and he died too young. No, he didn't leave this life the way I tell it in this story (it is, after all, a work of fiction), but he might have had things played out a little differently than they did. Childhood sexual abuse is alive and well in America and the larger world as well. Rodney and I lived it, and that basic fact served as the seed that made this story possible. Much of what you are about to read is true. Just as much is pure fiction. You'll get that (in spades) as the book progresses. The idea of another, better life waiting "out there" somewhere is a constant of most religions, but this is not a book about any religion or, really, the afterlife. Everything Hurts
I knew what was coming later tonight, not only at home, but on the way there. I knew that reacting right now would just make it worse though. So I kept quiet and pretended that I was not dreading when I would be alone with the man that stood beside me, wondering when it became so normal to do so. Jason and Alicia have the perfect relationship from the outside looking in, but Alicia has kept her wounded spirit and body hidden well. After another one of Jason's violent rages that is impossible to hide, Alicia is finally able to get away from the abuse though.
