When Marina Goodwin's body is found behind her house, nobody knows what to think at first. They all knew she was struggling. They all knew she had a history, both good and bad, with most of the townsfolk. But they didn't expect someone to flat out murder her and her daughter in the cold night.

Officer Ryder is one of the best officers that Courthill County has ever seen. He is well respected and admired, and it's no surprise when the biggest murder case that this town has ever seen gets put on him to solve. Between three main suspects, and not a lot of evidence, Nicholas Ryder has to piece together everything and bring justice to Goodwin and her daughter.
But is he really equipped for a case as complicated as this, with next to no leads on who wants this family dead?
