Will it always be unrequited?

Unrequited love is hard to deal with in the world, especially since it could kill you. In the year 2027 there has been many people dying mysteriously from coughing from what it seems to be flower petals and blood, the petals have been growing in their lungs until sadly they die. They decided to call it the Hanahaki disease, but only certain people have been dying from it and they can't figure out why. Kinmokusei is a boy who has been rejected by his childhood friend Touma. He is left alone with his unrequited love, and later starts to cough over and over until he feels a soft texture in his hand. He looked down to see yellow petals along with red splotches. Sadly he knew what this meant, he knew that he had the Hanahaki disease and would slowly die.
